Glen High, 95, of Cedar Rapids, left earth for his heavenly home on April 27, 2017. His life was one of giving, serving and creating.

He was born April 23, 1922, to Earl and Viola High. His siblings include Irene Drafahl (deceased), Paul High (deceased), Ruth Shannon of Des Moines, Ralph High of Minnesota, Don High (deceased) and Dorothy Lane of Marion.

Glen grew up in and around the Cedar Rapids area. He joined the Army Air Corps and was stationed in the South Pacific during World War II. After returning home, he later married Wilma Romig, his lifelong partner and sweetheart. Together they attended Bible Baptist Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas, where he received his master's in theology and ordination as a minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He and Wilma then returned to Iowa and served faithfully in the Berean Baptist Church for many years. After retiring, he served as a part-time pastor at the Grace Trinity Church in Shellsburg.

As well as ministry work, Glen worked successfully as a machinist at Bruckner machine shop and later Souvenir Pen and Pencil Co., plus freelanced for Acme. He was a very talented, skilled worker with a God-given engineer ability. He created prototype machines and could fix almost anything.

Glen was a humble, serving person, always willing to help people.

He leaves behind his loved and caring wife, Wilma High; his six children, Becky Ray (Jack), Virgil High (Carol), Virginia Irwin (Steve), Christine Stiles, Thomas High (Therese) and Lorie Hawkins (Jonathan). He also had many wonderful grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

He was welcomed into his savior's arms with "Well done, good and faithful servant."

There will be a celebration of life at Bible Baptist Church, 5037 Center Point Rd. NE, Cedar Rapids, on Saturday, May 6. Friends may visit at 9 a.m. with a service at 10 a.m.
