Glazier, Elaine Atlas
Elaine Atlas Glazier, daughter of Al and Cele Smulekoff, died peacefully, surrounded by friends and family, on July 24, 2013, in Cambridge, Mass.
She was born Oct. 22, 1925, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and had lived in Cambridge since earning her B.A. degree from Radcliffe College in 1947 and her Ph.D. from Harvard University in 1954, both in psychology. She taught child psychology at Tufts University in the 1960s and in the 1970s and 1980s, operated a small accounting business with her friend, Kathy Lloyd.
She had a lifelong love of Italy, where she lived for several years. As a devotee of Renaissance and Baroque music, she was a longtime supporter and former board member of the Boston Early Music Festival. She greatly enjoyed opera, art, Jane Austen, bridge and tennis, and traveled widely in their pursuit.
She is survived by a son, James A. Glazier of Bloomington, Ind.; and a niece and nephew.
At her request, instead of a funeral service, a memorial concert will be arranged later in the year.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Boston Early Music Festival at www.bemf.org.
