Gladys Mae Johnson, 81, of Cedar Rapids, passed away suddenly Sunday, Nov. 8, 2015, at her home. Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Gladys was born May 7, 1934, in Alida, Minn., to John and Margaret (Tisch) Flaws. She married Lyle Everitt Johnson on July 6, 1955, in Bagley, Minn. She worked at Rockwell Collins for many years until her retirement in 1988.
She spent her time caring for her family after retirement; they were her life focus, and she loved them dearly.
She is survived by her three loving children, Denise Buchanan of Strawberry Point, Debra (Roy) Smith of St. Peters, Mo., and Wayne (Teri) Johnson of Palo; six grandchildren, Amber Conduff, Lisa Gonterman, Lindsay (Nick) Hovis, Nick (fiancee Katya Kolbasko) Smith, Lauren Smith and Katie Heidt; two great-grandchildren, Michael and Zachary Conduff; and sister-in-law, Audrey (Don) King of Eagan, Minn.
Gladys was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 60 years, Lyle; son-in-law, Tom Buchanan; five brothers; and two sisters.
Gladys lives on in the hearts of her family as a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend. Her generous and loving presence will be missed tremendously by all.
