Gingerich, Marjorie J.
Marjorie J. Gingerich, 85, of Williamsburg, formerly of Parnell, died Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012, at Mercy Iowa City. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Williamsburg, with Father Joseph Roost officiating. Burial will follow at St. Michael's Cemetery in Holbrook. Visitation will be held Monday, Sept. 17, from 4:30 to 8 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Hall in Williamsburg, where a prayer vigil will be held at 4:30 p.m.
Marjorie Jean (Sueppel) Gingerich was born July 30, 1927, in Iowa City, the daughter of Francis W. Sr. and Bertha Ann (Bauer) Sueppel. She graduated from St. Patrick's High School and Mercy Nursing School in Iowa City in 1948. On April 21, 1955, she was united in marriage to Wayne “Beaner” Gingerich at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Iowa City.
Marjorie was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Holbrook, St. Mary's Catholic Church in Williamsburg, the Altar and Rosary Society of St. Mary's, the National Order of Forresters and the Mercy Nurses Alumni Association. She enjoyed cross stitch, word puzzles and Hawkeye football. Marjorie especially enjoyed her grandchildren who were her pride and joy.
Survivors include four children and spouses, Debra (Jerry) Crouch of New London, Iowa, Michael Gingerich of Riverside, Susan (Terry) Jones of Williamsburg and Mark (Lyn) Gingerich of Mount Zion, Ill.; one daughter-in-law, Angie (Rodney) Gingerich-Steckly of Kalona; eight grandchildren, Joseph and Joshua Crouch, Paige and Nate Jones, Benjamin Gingerich, Molly, Noah and Olivia Gingerich; one sister, Doris Gerot of Iowa City; and one brother, Robert (Laurine) Sueppel of Marion.
Preceding Marjorie in death were her husband, Wayne “Beaner” in 2002; one son, Scott in 2007; one brother, Francis “Bud” Sueppel Jr.; and one sister, Mary Fulmer.
A memorial fund has been established for St. Michael's Cemetery in Holbrook.
