Gilmore, Faye H.
Faye H. Gilmore, 99, of Webster, died Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at Mercy Iowa City. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 18, at the Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North English. The Rev. John Tunnicliff will officiate. There will be no visitation. Private graveside services will be held in the South English Cemetery. A general memorial fund has been established.

Faye Harris Gilmore was born Oct. 7, 1911, near Webster, Iowa, the daughter of henry Albert and Ada Fancher Harris. She graduated from Webster High School and UNI (formerly Iowa State Teachers College). She taught in rural schools and in the Webster school district. Faye was united in marriage to David L. Gilmore on June 13, 1942, in New Orleans, La. She was a member of the Webster United Methodist Church, UMW, Webster Women's Club, Order of Eastern Star, Past Matrons, and the SOS Club. Fay became a resident of Valley View Assisted Living in North English in December 2008.
Faye is survived by her daughter, Jane (Fred) Axmear of South English; a grandson, Scott (Shara) Axmear of North English; granddaughter, Stacy (Cory) Ackerman of Williamsburg; great-grandchildren, Owen and Ben Axmear and Rogan and Cormac Ackerman; a sister-in-law, Frances Riess; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, David in February 1993; and her sister, Ferne Greiner.
