Gilbert, Donnie A.
Donnie A. Gilbert, 64, of 205 40th Street Dr. SE, died Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2011, at St. Luke's Hospital after a sudden illness. There will be a gathering from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Westover Manor in Cedar Rapids. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his father, Lyle of Tucson, Ariz.; and a brother, Steve (Debbie), a sister, Sue (Rick) Young, and two nieces, Windie (Roger) Zieser and Candie (Chris) Levi, all of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
Donnie was born Jan. 31, 1947, in Spirit Lake, the son of Lyle and Mary Newton Gilbert. He was in the first graduating class at Kennedy High School. Donnie enjoyed all sports, especially the Cubs and Hawkeyes. He liked listening to country music and the puzzle, Word Finds.
Donnie was a wonderful person who will be greatly missed by his beloved family and many friends.
A memorial fund has been established in Donnie's name.
