Gertrude "Sally" Knott, 91, of Sun City, Ariz., passed away Dec. 21, 2017.
Sally was born in Fayette, Iowa, on July 30, 1926, and graduated from Fayette High School. She lived in several Northeast Iowa towns. Her marriage in 1946 blessed her with three sons, Larry Brandt of Sun City, Ariz., Curt Brandt (deceased) and Richard Brandt of Walker, La. After divorcing, Sally settled in Marion and worked primarily as a bookkeeper, retiring from Marion Iron in 1995.
Sally met and married the love of her life, George Knott, in 1968. They enjoyed traveling in the United States for many years. While at home, Sally kept busy with arts and crafts, crocheting afghans for her friends, grandkids and great-grandkids. She also made sure everyone had placemats for every holiday. She was dedicated to watching her sons, grandkids and great-grandkids participate in sports. Before moving to Arizona in 2009, Sally was very active with First Presbyterian Church in Marion.
Sally is survived by her two sons, Larry (Ellie) Brandt and Richard Brandt; seven grandkids; and nine great-grandkids.
She was preceded in death by George Knott; and son, Curt Brandt.
A service will be at a later date at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.
