Gertrude Ann Brase was taken to heavenly glory by her Savior Jesus Christ on May 6, 2017, at the age of 82. Her funeral service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 10, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Guttenberg, with the Rev. Andrew Preus officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 9, at Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Guttenberg, or an hour before the service Wednesday at the church.
Gertrude Ann (Trede) Brase was given life by her creator and was born Nov. 1, 1934, the child of Emil and Frieda (Schadlich) Trede. She was reborn as a child of God in the waters of holy baptism on Dec. 30, 1934. Gertrude confirmed that saving faith in Jesus on March 21, 1948. She attended country school and later graduated in 1953 from Garnavillo High School. Gertrude and Harold Henry Brase were united in holy marriage on June 5, 1955. They were blessed with 36 years of married life together and with four sons: Mark, Terry, Brian and Craig. Harold departed earthly life on Nov. 26, 1991. Gertrude resided at the Guttenberg Care Center the past three years.
Gertrude was a loving spouse and mother. She spent many years serving her Lord by volunteering at Trinity Lutheran Church, Trinity Ladies' Aid, LWML, Garnavillo Boosters, Garnavillo Historical Society, Guttenberg Care Center, Guttenberg Hospital Auxiliary and Friends of Sherman Swift Tower.
Memorials may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church or any of these organizations.
Gertrude is survived by four sons, Mark (Corinne), Terry (Becky), Brian (Jan) and Craig (with friend Kelly); eight grandchildren, Daniel (Beth), Michelle (Allan Hines), Toby (Merry), Amanda, Joshua, Joseph, Sarah and Rachel; eight great-grandchildren, Madeline, Megan and Micah Brase, Hunter and Hilda Hines, Caleb, Emma and Grant Brase; sister, Helen (Harlan) Hartman; two sisters-in-law, Esther (Allen) Werges and Norma Trede; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and their families.
She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Harold; great-granddaughter, Emma Caroline Brase; brother, Eldo; and sister-in-law, Ruth, and husband Woodrow Noack.
