GERALDINE M. WELTER
Monti
Geraldine M. Welter, 96, a lifelong resident of Monti, died Feb. 15, 2016, in Cape Coral, Fla. She was born Oct. 18, 1919, in Oneida to Maurice and Anna Hennessey.
The wake is from 3 to 7 p.m. Feb. 26 at Monti Community Center. The funeral is at 10:30 a.m. Feb. 27 at St. Patrick's Church in Monti.
Gerry was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, St. Andrews in Cape Coral and a volunteer at Kiwanis in Cape Coral.
She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, teacher and homemaker. Geraldine lived by the golden rule, "do unto others as you would have them do unto you."
She is survived by 14 loving children: William of Central City, Robert of Greeley Colo., Joanne Alvis of Galena, Ill., Richard Welter of Cape Coral, Patrick of St. Petersburg, Fla., Donald of Cape Coral, Stephen of Coggon, Daniel of Newbury Park, Calif., Sharon Yaeger of Brookfield, Wis., Francis of Masonville, Mary of Dundee, Ill., Janet of Cape Coral, Marguerite of Riverwoods, Ill., and John of Riveria Beach, Fla.; six siblings, Catherine DeLucia of St. Petersburg, Maurice Hennessey of Ryan, Marilyn McElligott of Waterloo, Sister Gwen Hennessey of Sioux City, Larry Hennessey of Cape Coral and Mary June McDonald of Delhi; 29 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Geraldine was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Welter; daughter, Carol Ames; and eight siblings.
