Geraldine "Jerry" S. Teel, 69, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, June 9, 2017, at St. Luke's Hospital following a long illness. Celebration of Life services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 13, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW in Cedar Rapids. Burial will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Monday, June 12, from 4 to 7 p.m.
Geraldine Sue was born Nov. 30, 1947, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Gerald Burdette and Mabel Irene (Hill) Bennett. She was united in marriage to Robert Teel on June 13, 1970, in Rock Island, Ill. Jerry worked as a waitress at various local restaurants and was a full-time homemaker and mother. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, camping, cooking, watching food shows, and most of all, spending time with her family, especially the grandkids.
Jerry is survived by her husband, Robert; her children, Jeff Suttles, Irene (Nam) Nguyen, Diana (Isidro Gonzalez) Teel and Robert (Melissa) Teel; 21 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; her brother-in-law, Bob Ballinger; as well as her nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Ty (Jan) Bennett; and sisters, Tami (Louie) Taylor and Dawn Ballinger.
