Geraldine “Red” Lynn Blazek, 68, of Cedar Rapids, died suddenly on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, August 7, 2025, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW. Private family inurnment will be in Czech National Cemetery.
Geraldine was born on March 5, 1957, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Clifford and Bernadine (Whalen) Mulholland. She graduated from Cedar Rapids Jefferson High School, Class of 1975. Geraldine was united in marriage to Rick Blazek in 1975. She retired from the United States Postal Service after 20 years as a mail carrier. During retirement she loved spending time with her animals, reading, traveling with Shari, and being with her family.
Geraldine Is survived by her daughter Berni; son Isaac; grandchildren, Quintin, Kaleb, Ricky & Emma; great-granddaughter Wren; her siblings Patsy, Jack, Gail, Barbara Jean, Connie Kay, Betty Jo, Sharon Rose, George, Mike and Richard; as well as her nieces and nephews; and dearest friends Shari and Boo Viktora.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband of forty years, Rick Blazek; her parents; her mother-in-law Joanne; her father-in-law Frank (Dot); her siblings Nancy Lee, Bobby and Jimmy.
