Geraldine “Gerry” Joy (Mente) Reeve, 92, of Tipton, entered eternity on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, while at Prairie Hills Assisted Living, Tipton. On Saturday, July 16, the Tipton First United Methodist Church will host a visitation from 9 to 11 a.m. A Celebration of Life at 11 a.m. A luncheon will be from noon to 1 p.m. Gerry will then be laid to rest in the Tipton Masonic Cemetery after the luncheon. Cards and memorials may be mailed to 1018 Ridgeview Dr., Tipton, IA 52772. In lieu of flowers, and in memory of Gerry, family will divide memorials between; the Tipton United Methodist Church, Prairie Hills, Tipton, and Friends of the Animals. Gerry, daughter of Henry Carl and Emma Elizabeth (Kahl) Mente was born Wednesday, Aug. 27, 1930, in Lowden, Iowa. She graduated with Tipton High School with Class of 1947. Gerry married Robert “Bob” Charles Reeve at the Little Brown Church in Nashua on Feb. 20, 1950. Gerry had an adventuresome spirit. She enjoyed bowling, golf and slalom water skiing. She even taught her children and their friends how to water ski. She also enjoyed sewing, her flowers and playing Bridge. Gerry and Robert loved to travel. They travelled all over the world. Gerry climbed the Great Wall of China. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in a hot air balloon over Sydney, Australia and their 60th Anniversary with family in “The Big House”, Galena, Ill. Gerry loved her family, especially her grandkids and great-grandkids and the hugs they brought. Gerry was a member of the United Methodist Church, National Bell Association, Iowa Candlewick group, Tipton Meals on Wheels, a founding member of the Tri-Sigmas and was a Camp Fire and Cub Scout leader.
Gerry is survived by her daughter, Gail (Maury) Miller of Tipton; sons, Rex (Phil McAndrew) Reeve of Kenosha, Wis., and Bruce (Susan) Reeve of Ankeny, Iowa; sister-in-law, Delores Timmerman of Tipton; grandchildren, Cori (Shawn) Mohr, Blaine (Melissa) Miller, Sarah (Eric) Howser, Ben Reeve and Jeremy Reeve; great-grandchildren, Claire and Sam Mohr, Bentley Miller, and Zach and Cam Steffen; and foreign exchange son, Hugo (Ofe) Duerto of Parana, Argentina.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob; brother, Kenneth Mente; and sisters, Josephine Beer and Genevieve Meier.
