Geraldine “Gerry” Campbell, 91, of Toledo, passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at Simpson Memorial Home in West Liberty under the care of Iowa City Hospice. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, March 11, 2024 at 10:30 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo. Visitation will be held Sunday, March 10, 2024 from 4-7 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with a Rosary beginning at 3:30 PM.

Geraldine was born on April 13, 1932, in Grinnell, Iowa, the daughter of William and Mary (Comerford) McGrory.

She graduated from St. John’s School in Victor and attended college at Mt. St. Clare in Clinton for one year.

On October 27, 1956, she was united in marriage to Lyle Campbell at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church in Victor, Iowa. She was employed ten years at State Farm Insurance and ten years at the Tama County Courthouse as an election clerk. Gerry was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Tama, where she was a longtime organist. She played for three generations of weddings and many funerals over the years. Gerry and her husband belonged to the Tama-Toledo Country Club and many other organizations. Gerry cherished her faith, family, friends and music.

Survivors include her children, Gary Campbell (Rosanne Williamson) of Warren, IL, Tom (Jane) Campbell of West Liberty, Cathy “Cat” Campbell Currier of Toledo, Rob Campbell of Hammonton, NJ, and Steve Campbell of Castle Rock, CO; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; brother, Jimmie McGrory of Ladora; two former daughters-in-law, Becky Herrig of Dubuque and Lisa Yerington of Bettendorf; many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband Lyle on July 21, 2007; two sisters, Rose Marie (Ray) Foley; Carmella (Cyril) Gallagher; son-in-law, Doug Currier; two nephews; one great-nephew; and two great-nieces.

A memorial fund will be established.
