Geraldine "Geri" Strand died April 24, 2017, in Mount Vernon, Wash., following a long illness.
Geri was born Nov. 28, 1927, the daughter of Harold and Myrtle Caldwell of Coggon. She attended UNI in Cedar Falls, studying early childhood education. Geri and Carleton Strand were married in Marion in 1947. Their 35-year partnership encompassed their family, their farm near Central City and their real estate sales business. Interest in travel, combined with her talent for art and photography, enriched Geri's later years when she worked as a tour director in the western U.S.
Geri is survived by a son, Gary Strand (Edie) of Springville; a daughter, Cyndi Toms of Oak Harbor, Wash.; and a daughter, Coni Kreish (Ken) of Lake St. Louis, Mo. Her legacy includes five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She also is survived by a sister, Caroline Smith of Cedar Rapids.
Arrangements are entrusted to Wallin Funeral Home of Oak Harbor, Wash., with a graveside service June 17.
