Gerald "Jerry" Martin Jencks, 84, of Marion, died Friday, Jan. 22, 2016, at St. Luke's Hospice, Cedar Rapids. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 26, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion. Funeral service: 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 27, also at the funeral home. Burial: St. John's Cemetery, Coggon, Iowa.
Survivors include his wife, Jill of Marion; his children, Darrell (Kim) Jencks of Cedar Rapids, Debbie Cady of Cedar Rapids, David (Lori) Jencks of Cedar Rapids and Deanna Jencks of Cedar Rapids; stepchildren, Dave Gericke, Lisa Ellingson, Shelly (Mark) Woodwick of Marion and Anthony (Emily) Ruggiero of Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; a sister, Florine Hillman of Oelwein; and former wife, Mary Jencks of Marion.
He was preceded in death by his parents and second wife, Marlene Jencks.
Jerry was born Jan. 12, 1932, in Greeley, Iowa, the son of Melvin and Jennie (Johnson) Jencks. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. Jerry was a member of the American Legion Post 298. He worked for General Mills for 24 years, retiring in 1994.
