GERALD "GERRY" D. RASMUSSEN

Gerald "Gerry" D. Rasmussen, 73, passed away Monday, Jan. 18, 2021, at the hospice unit at UnityPoint Health Care-St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where he was surrounded by his siblings. A Celebration of Life will be at a later date. We respectfully request all guests wear a mask.
He is survived by his brother, Emmett Rasmussen Jr.; sisters, Denise Gandy and Sheri Comried; and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to the American Heart Assocation at www.heart.org, in honor of Gerry.
Gerry was born Feb. 7, 1947, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Emmett and Marian Rasmussen. He was a school bus driver for several years. Gerry was a very kind and loving soul who was devoted to his family. The oldest of five children, Gerry would always tell his siblings since he was the oldest he was entitled to call and check in frequently to be sure they were all doing well. He would always end his conversations with his siblings by telling them "he loved them very much." He loved drawing and painting on canvas and cherished peaceful moments taking in the tranquility of the sights and sounds of nature.
Gerry will be greatly missed by all who loved him.
