Gerald (Gary) L. Osborne, 75, of Marion, died Saturday, June 17, 2017, in the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy. A Celebration of Life gathering will begin at 2 p.m. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories Stateroom, followed by a 3 p.m. graveside service at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Certified Celebrant Julie Freese will officiate.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia; his daughter, Merideth (James) Flanders of Cedar Rapids; his sister, Evelyn O'Kelly of Iowa City; and nephews, Chad O'Kelly, Jay (Roberta) O'Kelly and Kasey O'Kelly and their families.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Gary was born June 23, 1941, in Bloomfield, Iowa, the son of Lee and Verna (Bride) Osborne. He married Patricia Allison on April 10, 1972, in Macomb, Ill. Gary attended school in Bloomfield and graduated from Jefferson High School in Cedar Rapids. He was a machinist in the model shop at Rockwell Collins. He retired in 1996, after 37 years of service. Gary enjoyed watching NASCAR races on the weekends and the St. Louis Cardinals, especially when they beat the Cubs. He enjoyed nature and had many bird and squirrel feeders in his yard. Gary also spent quality time creating original wood art plaques.
