Cedar Rapids
George William Convey Jr., 92, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Sunday, August 18, 2024, at St Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Services will be held Thursday, August 22, 2024, 11:00 am, at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories.
Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
George was born July 13, 1932, in Cedar Rapids to George Sr. and Bessie Convey. George served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Iowa during the Korean War. After returning from his service, he met and married Angeline Ann Beltran on July 27, 1956, at The Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. George worked at Harper McIntire in Cedar Rapids for 34 years. George and Angie made many road trips to California and Colorado to visit family, which he very much enjoyed. George loved talking to and helping people. He also had many dogs in his lifetime and treated them like family. George will be greatly missed by all.
Survivors include a granddaughter, Jennifer (Matthew) Clements, of Parker, Colorado, son in-law, Hossain Mahdavi, of Loveland, Colorado, sister in-law, Pat Convey, of Cedar Rapids, along with several nieces.
George was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Angie, daughter, Victoria Mahdavi, his parents, brothers, Larry R Convey and Jim R Convey, and a sister, Shirley A Turnbull.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the family.
