George T. Snyder III, 67, of Anamosa, died peacefully Monday, April 24, 2017, at St. Luke's Hospice Care in Cedar Rapids.
The family will greet friends at Kramer Funeral Home, Monticello, from 10 to 11:45 a.m. Saturday, April 29. A memorial service will follow at noon at Kramer Funeral Home in Monticello. Pastor Ed Moreano will officiate. Burial will be at a later date.
George was born July 18, 1949, in Monticello, son of Clifford and Betty (Brokaw) Snyder. On Nov. 2, 1974, he was united in marriage to Karen Northness at St. Joseph Catholic Church in New Hampton. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He was a bricklayer and later worked at Freund-Vector Corp. for over 30 years as shipping and receiving and maintenance supervisor.
George enjoyed his family, hunting, fishing, boating, riding his motorcycle and giving the grandchildren rides in his John Deere Gator.
Survivors include his wife, Karen; three children, George T. Snyder IV "GT" of Marion, Mindy (Bill) Kostow of Grinnell, and Kelley Snyder (Nathan McManigle) of Lamont; five grandchildren, Tyler, Ryan and Maya Kostow, and Kenzie and Korbin McManigle; and his sister, Barbara (Everett) Tobiason of Anamosa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and nephew, Scott Tobiason.
In lieu of flowers, the family will make a donation to a veteran's group.
