George Nicolas Saba, 82, of Cedar Rapids, passed away peacefully on Monday, Oct.
23, 2017, with friends and family by his side. Funeral services: 10 a.m. Friday at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church. Burial will follow at St. George Orthodox Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the church, with a Trisagion service beginning at 7 p.m.
George was born Dec. 13, 1934, in Ain Arab, Lebanon, to Nicola and Shakiba (Elossais) Saba. He found the love of his life, Midge Cathleen Robinson, and they were married on Nov. 6, 1958.
George was the proud father of eight children: Michael (Pascale) Saba, Baby Jessie, Pierre (Cheryl) Saba, Baby George, Nick Saba, Baby Anthony, Matthew (Melonie) Saba and Lesa (Sean) O'Connell; and 15 beautiful grandchildren. He also is survived by siblings, Freida Elzien, Eva Saba, Elias (Amal) Saba, Milia (Jack) Masse, Hayatt Diwan and Karam Saba.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and three sons.
A special thanks to Casey Saba, the Crestview Acres staff and the doctors and staff at Mercy Medical Center and Clinics, who cared for George.
Memorials may be given to St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church or to the Saba family.
