George Robert Brookhart was born Jan. 22, 1950, in Iowa City, the son of George Elwood and Helen (Forbes) Brookhart. In 1970 George married Linda Kay Bender; he later married Hasinta Sue Senior in 1998. For many years George worked for Wayne Feeds. He spent 10 years in Oregon, returning to Iowa City with Hasinta after their marriage. He then worked for Heartland Express and the University of Iowa.
George enjoyed the simple things in life: going to races, going fishing, older cars, RC cars and trains, and his variety of pets throughout the years. He was a gentle soul with a big heart, willing to help a total stranger or animal in a heartbeat!
His family includes two daughters, Melissa Vandenburg (Richard) and Shalon Sebastian (Paco); nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, Shirley Brookhart; and his two pets, KC and Bunny. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Hasinta; and sister, Sharon.
