GEORGE ERNEST MEYN

George Ernest Meyn, 79, of Spring Grove, Ill., passed away Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2017, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born April 22, 1938, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Ernest and Libbie (Louketa) Meyn. He was a 1955 graduate of Roosevelt High School. On June 2, 1962, he married Betty Trpkosh.
George was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
He was a loving husband, father and doting Pa.
He took pride in designing and building his personal homes. He was a collector of paperweights. George worked for Link Belt for 35 years and had traveled with his company overseas, including a very memorable African safari trip.
George enjoyed all kinds of sports, golfing and spending time with his family.
George is survived by his wife, Betty, of 55 years; two children, Therese (Steve) White and Michael Meyn; two grandchildren, Jill and Bradley White; siblings, Mary (Frank) Gardner and Richard Meyn; a sister-in-law, Cheri Meyn; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, William Meyn.
