Gentz, Anna Belle
Anna Belle Gentz, 92, of Marion, died Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2011, at Linn Manor Care Center in Marion. Funeral Service: 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion, by Allan Christopherson and Robert Orr. Family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial: Oakland Cemetery, Manchester.
Survivors include four sons, Don (Barb) Gentz of Manchester, Cleo (Gail) Gentz of Cedar Rapids, Phil (Norma) Gentz of Shellsburg, and Chris (Sue) Gentz of Merrimac, Wis.; a daughter, Patricia (Kenneth) Orsten of Willmar, Minn.; 18 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; four sisters, Emma Kennedy, Betty Conrad, Ruth Moser and Corrine Borrett; and her dog, Pepper.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three brothers and a sister.
Anna Belle was born Sept. 13, 1919, in Manchester, Iowa, the daughter of Silas and Carrie (Miller) Smith. On March 3, 1937, she was united in marriage to Reuben C. Gentz. Anna Belle was a homemaker and helped on the farm. She also worked at Sears for 15 years. Anna Belle attended the Marion Gospel Hall. She enjoyed making her afghans for her family and flower gardening.
