Genevieve Christine Stevens, 84, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2017. Visitation will be Friday, Oct. 27, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids. Memorial will be Saturday, Oct. 28, at 10:30 a.m. Inurnment will follow at Mount Clark Cemetery, Central City.
Genevieve is survived by her son, Jay Stevens; sister, Kris Stevens; and brother-in-law, Bob (Phyllis) Stevens, all of Cedar Rapids; many nieces and nephews; and her beloved cat, Sammy.
She was preceded in death by her parents and nine siblings.
Genevieve was born Oct. 27, 1932, to John Henry and Christine (Jensen) Auen. She attended Walker High School, where she enjoyed playing basketball. Genevieve later worked for Rockwell Collins, where she retired after over 30 years of service as a coil assembler. After working for Rockwell Collins, she enjoyed working in the kitchen at Johnson Elementary.
Genevieve enjoyed embroidery and reading novels. She started her own life's novel by writing in her journal every day. Genevieve was a big fan of University of Iowa sports, and especially liked to watch Hawkeye basketball and football.
