Genevieve Dolores (Heitshusen) Schumacher, 84, of Williamsburg, formerly of Newhall, died Wednesday, April 29, 2015, at Mercy Iowa City. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 2, at St. John Lutheran
Church in Newhall, with the Rev. Steven Rempfer officiating. Interment will be in St. John Lutheran Cemetery near Newhall. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 1, at Phillips Funeral Home in Blairstown.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, Newhall; Iowa City and Mercy Hospice; or the charity of your choice.
Genevieve was born May 23, 1930, to Martin and Evelyn (Sandersfeld) Heitshusen, on a farm south of Amana. On Feb. 1, 1948, Genevieve was united in marriage to Eldon Schumacher at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Williamsburg. She drove a school bus for Benton Community schools for over 30 years and the children lovingly called her Mrs. Shoe.
Genevieve is survived by her children, Angela (Doug) Nevil of Whitney, Texas, Ken (Chris) Schumacher of Union, Wash., and Michele Schumacher of Cedar Rapids; her grandchildren, Erica, Matt and Zach Schumacher, Nathan and Andrea Andrews, Kevin and Alex Barry and Leslie Baccus; and her great-grandchildren, Quinn and Hadley Andrews, Wyatt Barry, Emmerich Schumacher and Wyatt Balliew.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eldon; her sisters, Lillian Wiebold and Laura Tschopp; her brother, Robert Heitshusen; and her grandchildren, Jamie and Dawn Blanchard.
