Genevieve Mae Meier entered eternal rest early Thursday, Jan. 10, 2019, while living in the Cedar Manor Nursing Home in Tipton. You are invited to come and celebrate her life on Tuesday, Jan. 15, at 11 a.m. at the First United Church of Christ in Tipton. Cremation will follow the funeral service so you may join her family for a luncheon at the church immediately following the service. Visitation will take place on Monday evening from 4 to 7 p.m. at Fry Funeral Home.

Genevieve was the daughter of Henry and Emma (Kahl) Mente. She was born on Sept. 6, 1928, in Lowden, Iowa. She graduated from Tipton High School in 1945. She was united in marriage to Donald Dean Meier on July 6, 1947, in Clarence, Iowa. Genevieve was a homemaker and mother as well as a lifelong partner with her husband on their farm until his passing on Jan. 8, 2016. Genevieve was a member of the First United Church of Christ in Tipton for many years. She loved flowers and gardening (receiving numerous awards from the Cedar County Fair for her floral arrangements), bluebirds and cooking, baking themed birthday cakes for her grandchildren, and caring for her family.
Genevieve is lovingly survived by her daughter, Jill (Brad) Gaul; sons, Jim (Judy), Jerry, Jeff (Vickie) and Joel, Jay (Viki); 17 grandchildren: Shawn, Jackie, Andrea, Brian, Jake, Joshua, Tiffany, Nathan, Gabriel, Jordan, Aubrey, Logan, Alicia, Christopher, Makayla, Daniel and Maggie; 24 great-grandchildren; sisters, Josephine Beer and her husband, Martin and Geraldine Reeve.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Kenneth Mente; sister-in-law, Betty Mente; brother-in-law, Robert Reeve; and her granddaughter, Amanda Rae Meier.
