Genevieve R. Sumner Krieger, 91, of Manchester, died Monday, July 20, 2015. A Celebration of Life will be from noon to 2 p.m. Friday, July 24, at The Meadows Assisted Living Center, Manchester, where family will greet
friends, and for a light buffet. A 2:30 p.m. graveside service at Oakland Cemetery, Manchester, will follow. Clifton Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Earlville, is in charge of arrangements.
Genevieve was born June 29, 1924, in Manchester, Iowa, the daughter of Ben E. and Martha L. (Haker) Ryan. She graduated from Manchester High School in 1942 and studied lab and X-ray at North West Institute in Minneapolis. On Oct. 16, 1948, Genevieve married Lewis Sumner in Petoskey, Mich. The couple later moved to Manchester and operated Model Printing for 22 years. Lewis passed away in 1989. Genevieve married Dr. Robert Krieger on Jan. 17, 2001. Bob passed away July 31, 2004.
Genevieve was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Manchester. She enjoyed knitting, reading, and doing volunteer work at the Camp Courageous garage sale and at the Senior Activity Center.
Genevieve's family includes her three children, Richard L. (Karen) Sumner of Orlando, Fla., Burton B. (Nancy) Sumner of Cedar Rapids and Susan (Dale) Lucas; two grandchildren, Kelli Jean and Kyle Ryan Lucas; and a brother, Ben Ryan of New Hampton.
Genevieve's deceased family members include an infant son, Robert Lee Sumner; parents, Ben E. and Martha L. Ryan; and her two husbands, Lewis Sumner and Dr. Robert Krieger.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Good Neighbor Society and/or Our Savior Lutheran Church, Manchester.
