Geneva Dingbaum, 96, of New Vienna, died Satur-day, Sept. 13, 2014, at Heritage Manor in
Dubuque. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16, at Kramer Funeral Home, 750 12th Ave. SW, Dyersville, where a VFW Auxiliary rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. and a parish vigil service held at 5 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in New Vienna, with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. John O'Connor will officiate.
Geneva was born Nov. 6, 1917, in Marion, Ill., the daughter of Nicola and Josephine (Madonia) Raitano. She married Edwin G. Dingbaum on March 3, 1946, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Chicago.
Geneva was employed as a secretary in Chicago for 10 years. She worked for 20 years at Kerper General Store in New Vienna and after retiring, was a library aide at Hennessy School in New Vienna.
She was a member of Edward W. Lake VFW Post 7736 Auxiliary, St. Boniface Church and its Holy Rosary Society.
She is survived by seven children, Joseph (Sigrid) Dingbaum of Rodgau, Germany, Robert (Beth) Dingbaum of West Branch, Paul Dingbaum of Dubuque, Tim (Diane) Dingbaum of Iowa City, Dina (Gary) Kempthorne of Dubuque, Mary Doughty of Waterloo and Nicolette (fiance Ron Ellis) Heer of Dubuque; 15 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Frances Lisner of Westfield, Wis.; in-laws, Irvin (Mary) Dingbaum of Oelwein, Rosemary Pasker of Manchester, Richard Kluesner of Farley and Elsie Dingbaum of Dyersville; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Martin; a son-in-law, Dale Doughty; siblings, Jenny (Tony) Bonano, Lily (Joe) Kukla, Angeline (Don) Myers, Sam (Mary), Jack (Jenny) and Joe (Gloria) Raitano; a brother, Joseph, and sister, Anna, in childhood; her parents-in-law, Joseph and Bernadine (Nefzger) Dingbaum; and in-laws, Bernard Lisner, Antoinette (Joe) Pasker, Henrietta Kluesner, Leonard and Luvern Dingbaum, Betty (Robert) Luensman, Luella (John) Pasker and William Pasker.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Heritage Manor for its loving care of Geneva.
