Gene Vernon Luth, 79, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Alamo, Texas passed away on Thursday February 27, 2025
There will be a celebration of life, one in Texas and one in Cedar Rapids, Ia this spring.
Gene was born in St. Charles, Missouri on August 23rd, 1945, to Donald and Loretta (Gloe) Luth. He graduated from Washington High School in Cedar Rapids (1963) He was a machinist at Rockwell Collins and Rockwell Goss. Later he worked as a driver at Lynch Ford, A job which he really enjoyed.
On October 17th, 1964, he was married to Jackie Van Fleet. They enjoyed 60 years of marriage.
Gene enjoyed spending time with family and friends in both Cedar Rapids and Alamo, Texas. He enjoyed riding his Harley, camping, spending time with friends for suppers out and bingo at the Star Bar in Fairfax.
He is survived by his wife Jackie, son Gene (Carol), brothers Virgil (Lilly) and Carl (Nancy), and many nieces and nephews. And of course, his beloved cat, Inky.
He was preceded in death by his parents Don and Loretta, his brother Wayne and brother Maynard.
The family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love and support in this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made Gene’s honor at the Mayo Clinic @ https://give.mayoclinic.org/.
