GENE "GENO" RAYMOND
KLOUBEC "SPIDER"
Cedar Rapids
Gene "Geno" Raymond Kloubec "Spider" passed away at St. Luke's Hospital on Sept. 26, 2017, at 6:26 p.m., surrounded by his loving family at the age of 77.
Geno is predeceased by his father, Joseph; mother, Helen (Denter) Kloubec; and an infant daughter, Tamera.
Geno is survived by his wife, Cathy (Pennington) Kloubec, of nearly 37 years. They were married in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on Dec. 24, 1980.
Geno is lovingly remembered by his daughters, Cathy (Randy) Nguyen of Cedar Rapids, Tami (Jim) Morgan of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Wendy (Mark) Fritz of Minnesota; and sons, Jeff Wright of Mountain City, Tenn., and Kevin Kloubec of Cedar Rapids. He also is remembered by his loving grandchildren, Joshua (Kristi) Nguyen, Nicholas (Cari) Nguyen, Kayosha (Mike) Nguyen, Gage Morgan, Sailar Morgan, Blake Blume and Mason Fritz; along with his great-grandkids, Hunter, Mikah, Adelynn, Lilliana, Jozlyn and Huxlee; his brother, Jim (Nancy) Kloubec of Cedar Rapids; and sister, JoAnn Hanson of Cedar Rapids. Don't forget those three loving animals, Willie, Bella and Weenie too.
Geno was born in Cedar Rapids on Aug. 13, 1940. Geno graduated from Wilson High School in 1958. After graduation, he went on to work for the Iowa Department of Transportation for 40 years before retiring. He then worked at Frontier Gardens for five years and was one of the cleanup crew guys for the Kernels field for two years before health issues required him to fully retire.
Geno enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, mowing the church's lawn, visiting with family and friends, as well as being an encyclopedia of jokes! He had a quick wit about him.
The visitation will be held Saturday, Sept. 30, from 11 a.m to noon, with the funeral service at noon and a lunch to follow at Community of Christ Church, located at 1500 Blairsferry Rd., Hiawatha, IA 52233.
