Samuel Gene Eash died on July 20, 2025 at University of Iowa Hospitals, Iowa City, Iowa at the age of 97. He was born on March 11, 1928 in Johnson County, Iowa to Lavanda (Fisher) and Daniel Glen Eash. He was united in marriage to Ruth Marie Rich on June 1, 1950 at the Methodist church in Crawfordsville, Iowa. He was a longtime member of the Parkview Church in Iowa City.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Mary Kate Klopfenstein and Phyllis Gingerich, his wife Ruth Marie Eash and their daughter Mary Lou Barton.
Gene was a lifelong resident of Wellman, Iowa and worked at Maplecrest Turkey Farms as well having a long career in the telephone industry, first at the Wellman Co-Op Telephone Association and then at Northwestern Bell and US West.
He is survived by his sons Glen (Donna) of Durham, North Carolina and Duane (Jean) of Mount Vernon, Iowa; and 3 grandchildren, Ross Eash and Megan and Sallie Barton.
He has donated his body to the University of Iowa College of Medicine.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
