Gene E. Floerchinger, 89, of Mesa, Arizona, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, after a long illness.
Born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, in 1936, Gene graduated from Roosevelt High School. He was a master woodworker and skilled mechanical tradesman who took great pride in his craftsmanship. Gene had a lifelong love of classic cars, motorcycles, and camping, and he was happiest when working with his hands or exploring the outdoors.
After a long and rewarding career at Rockwell Collins, Gene retired to Mesa, Arizona, with his beloved wife of 50 years, Geri.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Lucille Floerchinger; his son, Danny; and his older brother, Bob. He is survived by his wife, Geri, and their five children.
In keeping with Gene’s wishes, there will be no formal services. He generously donated his body to science, a final act of giving that reflects his spirit. The family asks that those who knew Gene remember him with love, and honor his memory in their own personal way.
