Geiger, Ruth E.
Ruth E. Geiger, 91, of Cedar Rapids, died at home Saturday, Oct. 10, 2009. Services: 1 p.m. Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, by the Rev. William Harnish. Interment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. A visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivor include daughters, Cherry (Ron) McGuire of Olin and Brenda (Harry) Christensen and Beth (Ron) Herrick, both of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Shelly (Kurt) Enke, Dawn (Paul) Rancourt, Forrest (Miyako) DenLinden, Mike (Sheila) McGuire, Rick (Tiana) McGuire, Joanna (Jeremy) Moser, Lisa (Jim Pawledge) Burns, Jim (Irene) Herrick, Jason (Val) Christensen, Darrin Christensen, Larry (Ann) Geiger and Chris (Heidi) Geiger; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Nelson; and their son and his wife, Larry and Babe Geiger.
Ruth was born Jan. 2, 1918, in Millersburg, to L.C. and Sadie Bean. After graduation, she worked as a maid for Brucemore's butler. She married Nelson Geiger in Kirksville, Mo., on Jan. 5, 1938. He died in 1987 and was dearly missed. She was an independent woman, still living in her own home. She loved to garden, play cards, and travel. She had been employed at Bezdek's Florist for over 20 years before retiring.
