Geiger, Alberta Joyce

Alberta Joyce Geiger died Friday, Dec. 10, 2010, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City at the age of 82 years. A family graveside service will be held at a later date.

Joyce was born Jan. 23, 1928, in Perry, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Violet (Caskey) Bresee. She graduated from Perry High School in 1946 and attended AIB in Des Moines. On Dec. 17, 1949, she married Lyle C. Geiger at First Christian Church in Des Moines. She was a licensed insurance agent with her husband at Geiger Insurance Agency from Sept. 1, 1977, until retirement on Aug. 1, 1997.

Joyce was a member of the North English Christian Church, a former trustee on the North English Library Board and former member of the Eastern Star in Des Moines and Norwalk.

She is survived by her husband, Lyle Geiger of North English; a daughter, Sheryl Ann (Monte) Ball, and a son, Bruce Evan Geiger, both of West Des Moines; three grandchildren, Curtis (Danielle) Rogers, Kristin Rogers and Andrew Boutott; two stepgrandchildren, Katherine and Michael Ball; a great-granddaughter, Sidney Lynne Rogers; and two brothers, Floyd (Donna) Bresee and Jim (Carmella) Bresee.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Delores Weber.
