Gaskins, Frank A.
Frank A. Gaskins, 59, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, Dec. 13, 2013, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, after a sudden illness. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Iowa Cremation is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Carrie; three daughters, Amanda Brown and Catiline and Shannon Gaskins, all of Cedar Rapids; two sons, Keith Gaskins of Missouri and Dennis Matlock of Arkansas; one brother, Charles of Missouri; and three sisters, Glenda Martin of Illinois, and Debbie Asher and Sherrie Yates, both of Missouri.
He is also survived by seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
Frank was born on Aug, 21, 1954, in St. Louis, Mo., the son of Frank and Pauline Pritchett Gaskins. He married Carrie A. Hyatt on Aug. 18, 1990, in Cedar Rapids. Frank worked at Higley Mansion and was a licensed practical nurse, a C.N.A., O.M.T. and an E.M.T.B.
Frank proudly served in the Navy during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, his dogs and especially the time spent with his beloved family. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather whose memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
