Gary Wayne Frame, 78, of Walford, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at the VA Hospital.
He was born on September 7, 1947, in Centerville, Iowa, to Francis and Delpha Frame. They later moved to Norway, where he graduated from Norway High School. Following graduation, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War 1967-1969.
After his military service, Gary worked as a builder and carpenter with Skogman Construction before starting his own business, Frame & Sippy Construction. His craftsmanship and dedication earned him great respect in the community.
A lifelong baseball fan, Gary was rarely seen without his Yankees hat. As Commander of the Norway Chapter of the American Legion—and affectionately referred to by many as the “Mayor” of Benton County—he was known throughout the community and beyond for his kindness, generosity, and genuine nature. Gary loved spending time with his family and friends, whether it was playing cards, golfing, attending sporting events, or sharing laughs at the Angle Inn. He will be especially missed by his “girls” Allison, Payton, and the rest of the Angle crew.
Gary is survived by his children, Whitney (Shane) and Zak (Carrie); his brother, Eugene (Evie); sister-in-law, Cheri Frame; special friend, Cathy Osborne; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Rick Frame.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to Claire Czerwionka and the entire staff at the VA for their exceptional care and compassion.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Norway Legion on a later date. Memorials may be sent to Zak Frame, P.O. Box 491, Walford, IA 52351. To share a thought, memory or condolence please visit the Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service website at www.gayandciha.com.
