Gary Rodriquez, 75, of Marion, died suddenly on March 9, 2018. Celebration of Life: 11 a.m. Monday, March 19, at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids. Visitation: 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 18, at the funeral home. Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his longtime significant other, Kris Dawson; children, Brad (Rosita) Rodriquez and Brie Dawson; siblings, Nancy, Gloria, Carmen and Bob (Barb); and many extended and adoptive families.
Gary Lee Rodriquez was born Aug. 27, 1942, to Michael and Gwen (Phelps) Rodriguez. He graduated from West Branch High School. Gary worked multiple jobs over the years, including at Smulekoff's, selling insurance, owning a bar and, most recently, driving for Nick's Cab. He enjoyed mowing, collecting toys, visiting thrift shops, cooking and grilling, and boating and fishing. Gary especially enjoyed spending time with his "girls," Brie and Kris, playing poker with family and friends, and visiting the casino.
He was preceded in death by his parents; former spouse, Carol; and pets, Smokie and Eddie.
