Gary L. Robbins, 73, of West Liberty, a longtime area trucker, died suddenly Saturday, July 6, 2019, at his shop in West Branch. A gathering for family and friends to remember Gary's life will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. Saturday, July 13, at his shop in West Branch (322 E. Main St.). Gary Lee Robbins was born March 23, 1946, the son of Donald E. and Elva M. (Rakestraw) Robbins. He married Patricia K. Ayers on March 23, 1968. They had celebrated their 51st anniversary. For more than 40 years, Gary was a semi driver in the area. He had served in the Iowa National Guard for a number of years. Gary was known for his love of family and friends as well as driving his beloved 1954 Ford F-100 and antique Farmall tractors in area parades. He was a simple soul who will be missed by all who knew and loved him!
His family includes his wife, Patricia; their children, Amy Whigham (Ronnie) and Donald Robbins; granddaughter, Nicole Hennings; great-grandsons, Issac and Eli Stephens; brother, Richard Robbins; and many extended family members.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Donna Carmichael; and an infant brother.
