Gary Howard Railsback, 73, of Marshalltown, passed away Thursday, Nov. 6, 2014, at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown after a 10-year battle with cancer and diabetes. Celebration of Life services will be at 3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14, at the Palo United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. Visitation and fellowship will be from 2 p.m. until the time of services.
Memorials may be directed to the Palo United Methodist Church or to a charity of your choice in memory of Gary.
Anderson Funeral Homes, 405 W. Main St., Marshalltown, assisted the family with arrangements.

Gary was born June 18, 1941, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was the son of Gary "Bud" and Helen (Dodge) Railsback. He was raised on the family farm near Palo and graduated from Palo High School in 1959. Gary served in the U.S. Army for two years and was in Germany for 18 months.
Gary was employed at Borden Ice Cream Company in Cedar Rapids and Mason City. He worked at St. Luke's Hospital for 15 years, the Blair House and Sieg Auto Parts in Cedar Rapids. Gary also did private in-home health care.
Gary is survived by his two brothers, Clifford (Nina) Railsback of Palo and Carlton (Jan) Railsback of Center Point; two sisters, Eleanor Flitsch of Alburnett and Virginia (Andre) Berracasa of San Diego, Calif.; plus many nieces, nephews, cousins and special friend, Roger Ackerman and his daughters.
He was predeceased by his parents; his sister, Evelyn Carlson; and his brother-in-law, Russ Flitsch.
