Gary Lee Nagel was born Sept. 17, 1957, at John McDonald Hospital, Monticello, Iowa. He was the son of Lavern and Dorothy Jacobs Nagel. Gary graduated from Monticello Community Schools in 1976. He loved farming and was a farmer all his life. In 1975, Gary and Lavern started N&N Trailers, selling trailers made in Arkansas. In 1984, they began producing their own trailers. In addition, he was a Westfield grain auger dealer for over 40 years. Gary and Kathy Ammeter were married at St John Lutheran Church on Sept. 22, 1979.
If you couldn't find Gary at the farm, you could find him in his favorite toy, his skid loader. His favorite hobby was the 5 Best Days of Summer, the Great Jones County Fair. He was an active fair board member for many years, where he put in countless hours of volunteer work.
Gary was a people person, his sense of humor, big smile and contagious laugh will be greatly missed by anyone who knew him. One thing most people did not know about Gary was his love of animals. He will be missed by "Case," (Kendi's dog), his traveling buddy.
He was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather. He treasured everything about his children and grandchildren and all of their accomplishments.
