Gary Lee McCammant was born Oct. 21, 1945, in Williamsburg, the son of Alfred and Lucille (Klever) McCammant. He attended rural country school. Gary farmed and worked at Amana Refrigeration. He enjoyed being outside, watching wildlife, caring for animals, hunting and fishing, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his nieces and great-nieces and -nephews. Gary died Tuesday, March 6, 2018, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics at the age of 72 years.
Gary is survived by a brother, Lorren (Rose) McCammant of Millersburg; three nieces, Tammy Temple and son Owen, Jennifer (Mike) McMahon and children Haley, Madison and Cael, and Christy (Josh) Deutsch and son Grayson. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Richard in infancy and Lloyd McCammant.
Celebration of life service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, March 10, 2018, at the Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg. Burial will be at Pilot Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Powell Funeral Home. Messages and memorials may be left at www.powellfuneralhomes.com.
