Gary McCallister died Wednesday, March 12, 2014, at English Valley Care Center, North
English, at age 69.
Gary was born Nov. 10, 1944, in Williamsburg, Iowa, the son of C. Wayne and Eleanora (Schlessel-man) McCallister. He attended Pilot Grove country school, Millersburg school and Hawkeye country school and graduated from English Valley High School in 1962. Gary was in the Iowa National Guard, worked for Amana Refrig-eration and worked construction and roofing. He taught piano lessons to the neighbor children when he was younger.
Gary was a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Williamsburg. He enjoyed watching TV and visiting with friends and family.
He is survived by a brother, Larry (Betty Lou) McCallister of North English; a sister, Judy (Jim) Tinnes of Webster; four nieces; two nephews; and 18 great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Celebration of Life service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 15, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Williamsburg. The Rev. Carl Cloeter will officiate. Burial will be in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home, North English.
A general memorial fund has been established.
