Gary L. Hoyt, 77, of Springville, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2021, at his home surrounded by his loving family. In agreement with Gary's wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will greet friends at A Celebration of his Life from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 9, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion. Inurnment will follow at Springville Cemetery in Springville, Iowa. All guests are respectfully requested to wear a face mask and practice social distancing.
Gary was born on July 1, 1943, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Llewellyn "Lew" and Dorothy (Stoneking) Hoyt. On Aug. 16, 1960, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, he was united in marriage to Marianne Jossie. Gary was employed in the concrete business for over 33 years, retiring from King's Materials.
He is survived and lovingly remembered by his children, Becky Keast of Waterloo, Iowa, and Jim (Candi) Hoyt of Ely, Iowa; five grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Lew and Dorothy Hoyt; wife, Marianne, in 2013; son, Thomas Hoyt, in 1989; sister, Betty (Bill) Ketelsen; brother, Johnny (Carol) Hoyt; and his beloved Pomeranian, Brandy.
