Gary Edward Harless, 78, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Friday, Oct. 21, 2016, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. A visitation will be an hour before the service.
Gary is survived by his wife, Neta; a daughter, Teresa Shada, son-in-law, Steve Shada, and grandson, Logan Shada, of Center Point; and a sister, Arlene Sampson of Mason City.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother of Mason City.
Gary was born Aug. 21, 1938, in Mason City, Iowa, son of Wallace and Mary Harless. He was a 1957 graduate of Mason City High School and North Iowa Area Community College in Mason City. On Sept. 7, 1969, Gary and Neta Anderson were united in marriage at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Gary started working for Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids in 1965, retiring in 1996.
Gary was a member of the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors for many years. He enjoyed spending time with family and repairing antique clocks.
