Gary H. Bartosh, 70, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Wednesday, April 5, 2017, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Iowa City, Iowa.
Inurnment with military honors will take place at Rock Island National Cemetery in Rock Island, Ill., at a later date.
Gary is survived by his children, Lisa (Mark) Smith of North Carolina and April Bartosh of Indiana; his grandchildren, Krista Fenley, Jacob, Caleb, Joshua and Austin Smith, and Kini'a and Kyra Binning; his great-grandson, Avery; his brother-in-law, Gary Butz; his niece, Sharyn Brown; and his nephew, Brian Butz.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Ronnie; and his sister, Betty Butz.
Gary was born March 2, 1947, to Clifford and Helen (Frimml) Bartosh. His younger years were spent growing up in Norway, Iowa.
He joined the U.S. Army and served in the Vietnam War from 1964 to 1967 as a sharpshooter. Gary was honorably discharged in 1967.
Gary had his own painting company for several years. He also was a longtime taxicab driver.
Gary had a big heart for his family and friends and a love for the elderly. He will be missed.
