Gary Dean Kline was born June 26, 1963, in Macomb, Ill., the son of Robert and Mary (Schall) Kline. He graduated from Macomb High School and then received his bachelor's degree from Western Illinois University and later a Master’s in Economics as well. Gary was united in marriage to Julie Ann Thing on Sept. 10, 1988, in Springville, Iowa. Gary worked as Senior Vice President for various banks, including the local banks like Farmers Trust and Savings in Williamsburg and the Fairfax Savings Bank in Fairfax. He enjoyed farming, raising cattle, woodworking and was an avid volunteer. He was a member of the Lions Club, the Stronghurst Fire Department and the Keosauqua Fire Department. Gary passed away on Monday, Oct. 16, 2023, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City at the age of 60 years.
He is survived by his wife Julie; two sons, Phillip of Denver, Colo., and Michael (Jill) of Columbia, Mo.; and three siblings, Ralph Kline of Macomb, Ill., Jim (Lila) Kline of Taylor Ridge, Ill., and Judy (Jim) Sligar of Mackinaw, Ill.; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his parents.
A Visitation will be held Thursday, Oct. 19 from 4 to 7 p.m. with a Celebration of Life Service following at 7 p.m. at the Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg, Iowa. A graveside service will be 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 20, 2023, at the Pennington Point Cemetery in Adair, Ill. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to MST Fire Department in Stronghurst.
