Garland J. Waddilove Sr., 90, passed away at Manor Care in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on Thursday, Dec. 30, 2022, surrounded by his loving family.
A visitation will be held at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home on Wednesday, Jan. 5, from 4 to 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories on Thursday, Jan. 6, at 1 p.m. with Pastor Sherry Schwab officiating.
Garland was born on Nov. 20, 1931, in Blythedale, Mo. He was the son of the late Alfred and Mary (Birt) Waddilove. On Jan. 21, 1955, Garland married the love of his life, Iris Harris, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Garland was a veteran in the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War.
Those left to cherish Garland's memory are his children, Tim (Nanette) Waddilove, Pam (Tom) Tiffany, John (Pamm) Waddilove, Jenny (Dave) Wilcox and Garland Jr. "Joe Waddilove; 18 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Luetta Stafford.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Iris; his parents; a daughter-in-law, Caroline Waddilove; his siblings, Robert Waddilove and Colleen Richardson; and a granddaughter, Jamie Waddilove.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the VFW.
The family wishes to thank Dave and Jenny Wilcox for all the time, love and support that they showed Garland in his final years.
