Garin, Keith F.
Keith F. Garin, 73, of rural Lansing, died Thursday, June 23, 2011, at his residence following an extended illness. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Monday, June 27, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Wexford. The Rev. Daniel Knipper will officiate at the service. Interment will be at the church cemetery. Friends may call at Thornburg-DeVries Funeral Home in Lansing from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday and one hour before services at the church on Monday.
Keith F. Garin was born Feb. 16, 1938, in Harpers Ferry, Iowa, the son of Cyril and Viola (Guider) Garin. He attended Lafayette Center grade school and graduated from Immaculate Conception High School in Lansing. After high school he served six years in the Army. Keith farmed all of his life and also was a trustee for the Wexford parish for 23 years and served as a creamery board member. He enjoyed playing cards, ping-pong, volleyball, hunting, telling stories and going out to eat.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Patricia; five children, Jo Ann (Gary) Perez of Cedar Rapids, Janette (Ken) Gully of Berryton, Kan., Janice Erger of Atkins, Randy (Jody) Garin of Newhall and Jim Garin of Norway, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Tara (Jairo) Garcia, Cindy Gully, Kristin Gully, Leah Perez, Billy Erger, Kelsey Garin and Alyssa Garin; twin great-grandchildren, Christian and Nicholas Garcia; two brothers, Leo (Mary Lou) Garin of Lansing and Jerry (Kathleen) Garin of Cedar Rapids; and one sister, Kathleen Troendle of Lansing.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one son, Nicholas Garin.
