Gamsky, Patricia J.
Patricia J. Gamsky, 84, of Cedar Rapids, passed away at her home on Thursday, March 31, 2011. Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 4, at St. Matthew Catholic Church. The Rev. David Beckman will officiate. Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home on Sunday from 4 until 8 p.m., with a vigil starting at 7 p.m.
Patt was born Feb. 23, 1927, in Minneapolis, Minn., the daughter of Clifford and Florence (McNamara) Wilson. She was a graduate of Mount Mercy Academy. Patt married Thomas Gamsky in Cedar Rapids on June 30, 1962. Thomas passed away May 29, 2007. Patt worked for Metropolitan Farm Loan in Cedar Rapids until she married. She was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and her black Lab, Finnegan.
Survivors include her twin daughters, Ann (Ed) Fuxa of Omaha, Neb., and Jan (Mike) Hessman of Cedar Rapids; seven grandchildren, David, Frannie, Kathryn and Kyle Fuxa and Cara, Liz and Kate Hessman; a sister, Janann Wilson of Cedar Rapids; and several nieces and nephews.
Patt was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas; her parents; and two sisters, Mary Lou Franey and Jerry McCarthy.
Memorials may be directed to St. Matthew Catholic School in Cedar Rapids or to JDRF -Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
