Gallo, Mitchell Gene
Mitchell Gene Gallo, 32, of Hiawatha died Sunday, Oct. 2, 2011, at ASAC.
He was born on July 3, 1979, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He graduated from Cedar Rapids Washington High School in 1997. He later graduated from Kirkwood Community College with an A.A. in nursing. Recently, Mitch had been working on a degree in computer programming from Kirkwood.
Survivors include his father, Gary (Deb) Gallo of Fairfax; brothers, Sam (Laura) Gallo, Loi Lam and Joe Collins; sister, Maria Gallo (Andy Holtz); grandmother, Dorothy Meloan; three nieces and three nephews, all of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Julie Meloan.
A celebration of life service will take place on Thursday, Oct. 6, at 5 p.m. at the Red Cedar Lodge in Squaw Creek Park, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Mitch loved to spend time with his family and friends and enjoyed life. He loved technology and playing music. He would often go hunting and fishing and loved to tell stories. In his presence, we always had cloudless skies and endless laughs.
A memorial fund has been established in Mitch's name.
Thanks to all the family and friends who have been there for Mitch over the years, having kept him in your thoughts and prayers. We look forward to hearing your stories at the service on Thursday.
